چکیده
The eeect induced by neutrino oscillation on the dark matter indirect detection signal which consists in a muon neutrino ux produced by neutralino annihilation in the Earth core is analyzed. We consider the neutrino oscillation parameters relevant to the atmosferic neutrino deecit, both in the ! and ! s cases. Searching for Neutrinos from WIMP Annihilations in the Galactic Stellar Disk
Weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) are a viable candidate for the relic abundance of dark matter (DM) produced in the early universe. So far WIMPs have eluded direct detection through interactions with baryonic matter. Neutrino emission from accumulated WIMP annihilations in the solar core has been proposed as a signature of DM, but has not yet been detected. These null results may be...
متن کاملAn indirect search for WIMPs in the Sun and the Earth using upward-going muon events in Super-Kamiokande
We present the result of an indirect search for high energy neutrinos from WIMP annihilation in the Sun and in the Earth using upward-going muon events at Super-Kamiokande. Datasets from SKI-SKIII (3109.6 days) were used for the analysis. We looked for excesses of neutrino signal from the Sun and the Earth as compared with the expected atmospheric neutrino background in three types of upward-go...
متن کاملWIMP annihilation and cooling of neutron stars
Since Zwicky proposed the problem of the ‘‘missing mass’’ in 1933, a lot of theoretical and experimental effort has been made in order to unveil the nature of dark matter. Today, WMAP has provided very accurate data regarding the matter density in the Universe [1]. The energy density of the Universe is composed of 4% atoms and roughly 22% dark matter. Data from recent observations indicate that...
متن کاملImplications of a New Solar System Population of Neutralinos on Indirect Detection Rates
Recently, a new Solar System population of weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter has been proposed to exist. We investigate the implications of this population on indirect signals in neutrino telescopes (due to WIMP annihilations in the Earth) for the case when the WIMP is the lightest neutralino of the MSSM, the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The veloc...
متن کاملDynamics of WIMPs in the Solar System and Implications for Direct and Indirect Detection
Semi-analytic treatments of the evolution of orbits of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in the solar system suggest that the WIMPs bound to the solar system may enhance the direct detection rate relative to that of the unbound population by up to a factor of order unity, and boost the flux of neutrinos from WIMP annihilation in the Earth by up to two orders of magnitude. To test the...
